This is a very rewarding trekking experience that requires some mountaineering skills to negotiate from the base of Makulu through to the Everest region. The trek starts at Tumlingtar in Arun valley and finishes at Lukla. During the trek several days are spent trekking through valleys, villages, farms, forests, hills and of course the infamous Himalayas, glaciers and so on. The focus is on trekking to base camp of Makalu at Sherson, on the high yak pasture beneath the towering Mt. Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world. This walk follows a picturesque and rarely trekked route, which passes through a number of interesting settlements and offers exciting views of the highest peak in this part of the world. It is very important to have extra days during the trekking to allow for acclimatization purposes in the midst of these giant peaks. From here the trek moves to a higher camp at the foot of the Barun Glacier, and it is from this point that the final preparation for the crossing of the three cols begins. Ropes will be fixed on the steepest and most exposed sections of each passes, to safe guard the passage of the group. You can observe from the high route a spectacular view of most of the highest peaks of the central eastern Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, and Lhotse from the south east. As a relaxing final pass of this outstanding trek, after passing the last pass of Amphu Labtsa the trek descends towards the popular Everest trail, through the Khumbu area to Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and tented accommodation is included during the trek.

From the Col we will rope up to cross the glacier to the rocky crest of the West Col. This stunning mountain valley is framed by the icy ridges to the north, the vast cliffs of Makalu, the wall of Chamlang to the south and the sharply spiral of Ama Dablam ahead of us to the west.
